Biggest Odds Swing: San Francisco 49ers

This past week, we have seen the odds on San Francisco take a hit. Two weeks ago we saw the 49ers average odds drop from 39/1 to about 32/1. Jimmy Garapolo has been looking good at minicamp, coming back from his ACL surgery, and it seems the betting public has caught on. You can still get the 49ers at 43.24/1 at Pinnacle Sports, but it looks like those odds might not hold for long. We will keep our eyes out for how this line will move going forward.

Best Value: Minnesota Vikings (37.5/1)

There is a lot of value on the board, but the team that jumps out to me is the Minnesota Vikings. The average odds on the Vikings are around 27/1. Even at that price, I’m tempted to jump at a team that was 13-3 just two seasons ago. Mike Zimmer should lead the Vikings to a great rebound season. Getting the Vikings at 37.5/1 at 5Dimes seems like a no-brainer to me for the value. I would love to make $3,750 off a $100 bet on a team that knows what it takes to win the NFC North. Take a flier on the Vikings.

Worst Value: New England Patriots (7.5/1)

My least favorite value out there has to be the New England Patriots. It’s not because I don’t think the Patriots will win the Super Bowl, it’s that I don’t see any incentive in investing in them at this current “early bird” price. It seems like every year the Patriots hit a “rough patch” where they lose two out of four games and everyone publishes articles questioning if the Patriots dynasty is finally over. Sound familiar? This happens just about every year, yet Tom Brady and Bill Belicek always find a way to rally to the Super Bowl. If you like the Patriots to win it again this year, I think you are better off waiting to bet them when they experience their early-season “downfall” when the odds might creep closer to the 10/1 range. If you want to take them now, 5Dimes offers the best value at 7.5/1.

Best Longshot: Washington Redskins (150/1)

If you want to have some fun and go with an absolute longshot, the Washington Redskins could be a fun bet. At 150/1 odds at Sportsbook, the Redskins could offer some value. Remember, the Redskins were winning the NFC East with Alex Smith through 10 games until he experienced a gruesome injury. The team was never able to recover under Colt McCoy, Mark Sanchez, and Josh Johnson. In my opinion, your fortunate to win a game with any of those three under center. The Redskins brought in veteran Case Keenum, and there is also plenty of hype regarding the new rookie quarterback, Dwayne Haskins. Although there is no announcement at this point regarding who the starter will be, whoever it is, should make the team more competitive than they were at the back half of last year. The division seems to be wide open, and Washington could find a way to sneak into the playoffs. 150/1 for a playoff team is a steal.
